Here is a transcript of the video:

Welcome to this online tutorial from Lashon HaTorah. We are about to show you how you can review the suffixes that the children learned in Workbook Bais. They will need to know these before doing Workbooks Gimmel or Daled. There are basically three steps needed to do in order to review the suffixes. The first step is to teach the class the suffixes in a sing-song. I will show you two ways of teaching the suffixes in a sing-song. One way is by using the yellow banner, and the other way is by using the smart board with our PowerPoint presentation.

Here is a video showing how the children sing the yellow banner in class [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hey [Applause] [Music] [Applause] family new [Applause] hey family [Applause] family [Music]. The banner is available for purchase through Lashon HaTorah. Please note, this is the banner of all the suffixes: plural suffixes, object suffixes, and possessive suffixes. Plurals are in orange, and the rest of the suffixes are in yellow.

For more information on the suffixes not covered in this presentation, please refer to Workbook Base. Next, you will see the slideshow of the sing-song. When the slide comes up, each family of suffixes will come up one at a time as the song is heard. The class watches this and sings along. Optionally, you can have a child or the teacher can point either with a laser pointer or with a stick to each of the groups as they are being sung. You can review the sing-song while reviewing the suffixes and even while doing work for Gimmel.

It will be a fun activity to do when the students are putting away their siddurim or when they are taking out their chumashim or during any other downtime. We are now ready for step two: the matching game. I will show you two ways of playing the matching game. One way with the board and flash cards, as will be seen in the video, and the second way will be playing a game with the computer, either with a smart board or with an overhead. First, I will show you using the board with flash cards family hey.

[Music] is the family. As you see before the children got started, the board was set up with the groups of families. Each child was given a flash card with magnetic tape on the back. The children go in order of the rows, one at a time, to the board to put their card into the correct box. Then the class sings the name of the family.

Every child is engaged, excited about his turn to go to the board, watching his friends, and participating in the song. The flash cards are available for purchase through Lashon HaTorah. Next, you will see the game that is prepared for you to play on a smart board or on the computer. A suffix appears on the bottom of the screen. Before you click, ask the children where it belongs. When you click, it goes into the correct box to check if you are correct, and then another letter appears on the bottom of the screen.

Continue this activity until all the letters are completed. With the smart board, you have the option of allowing the children to go up to the smart board to write the answer in the correct box. And then when you click, it’ll check if he was right. Ha, you are, your, knee, me, hen, them, are there, and etc. As each one goes up, it goes in the right box, finished.

Next is step three after playing the matching game. Next is step three after teaching the sing-song and playing the matching game. While teaching the sing-song and playing the matching game, you could then teach the sing-song (06:36) and playing the matching game. You can then have the students do daily worksheets. The following video will show you how the boys were doing their worksheets in class.

Here is a sample worksheet that we prepared for you. We are providing you with 14. Now you will see a video of the children doing their worksheets in class, going back after having done the previously mentioned activities, namely the sing-song and the matching game. The children will do a worksheet that will reinforce these activities. Next, you will see a video of the children doing their worksheets in class. We are providing you with 14 pages of worksheets for review. The worksheets will suffice for 14 days of these activities teachers could use.

We are providing you with 14 pages of worksheets for review. The worksheets will suffice for 14 days of activities. Teachers should use their own discretion in deciding how many days they wish to follow this regimen. First, there will be a matching page. Here is an example of the types of pages we will first. There will be a match by color page. The children are asked to color each English word a different color. Then they should match the Hebrew suffixes to the English by color. Now you see a completed page. Another sample page, the other type of sheet, is a cut and paste sheet.

The children are asked to cut out the boxes from the bottom and then to paste the correct answer in the box next to the Hebrew. Alternatively, they could just write the answers in the boxes using the choices listed at the bottom of the page. We hope that you enjoyed and gained from this presentation. Welcome to this tutorial from the Lshon Hatorah. We are about to show you how you can review the future tense affixes, those are prefix-suffix combinations that were taught in Workbook Gimmel. Before doing Workbook Daled, there are basically five steps needed to review the affixes. The first step is by the class chanting the sing-song. We will show you two ways to teach the affixes in a sing-song. One way is by utilizing the red banner, and the other is by utilizing the computer presentation. Here is a video showing the children.

Chanting the sing-song from the red banner. Tough oh, the replica of the banner displayed on the slide is available for purchase through the Lshon Hatorah. Next, you will see an alternative way of teaching the sing-song, which is computer-generated by utilizing a smart board or overhead projector. When the next slide comes up, have the class chant along as each affix is circled and sung. I’ll if I will yet he will none we will [Music].

[Music] You can review this sing-song daily while reviewing Workbook Demo and even while doing Workbook Daled. It’s a fun activity to do while the children are putting away their siddurim or when they’re taking out their chumashim or during any other time. We are now ready for step two. After the children know the sing-song, have them play the matching game. We will show you two ways to play the matching game with the children. The first way will be by utilizing the board and flashcards. The other way will be by utilizing the computer-generated game.

A video of the game using the board with flashcards. [Music] Following this game can be played by either setting up the affixes on the board and having the students match by placing their meanings beneath them, as you see in this video, you can do the opposite place or write the meanings on the board and have the students match the affixes to them by using a few sets of flashcards. You can have a number of students doing the same game simultaneously. Flashcards are available for purchase through the Lshon Hatorah.

Some sample cards are displayed on this slide. On the slide that follows, you will see another way of playing the matching game, which is computer-generated. This game is prepared for you to play utilizing a smart board or with the overhead projector. One of the affixes appears on the bottom of the screen. Say the letter none; the children should say the meaning we will. When you click the affix, it will enter its appropriate box to confirm its meaning, and another affix will appear on the bottom of the screen. Tub, you will, or she will.

Ta- Ee- ‘you will’ –  continue this activity until all the affixes are done. The game can be played several times to help the children identify each affix and its meaning. After having done the previously mentioned activities, namely the sing-song and the matching game, the children will do a worksheet that will reinforce these activities. We are providing you with six pages of worksheets for review that will suffice for six days of activities. Teachers should use their own discretion in deciding how many days they wish to follow this regimen.

Should you wish to continue the review for more than six days, you can repeat the use of the worksheets. There are two types of worksheets. The first type will be matched by color. Here is a sample page. The children are asked to color each English translation a different color, then to match the Hebrew affixes to the English by color. [Music] The other type of sheet is a cut-and-paste sheet. The children are asked to cut out the boxes from the bottom of the page and paste the correct answers in the box next to the Hebrew, otherwise, they could just write the.

Answers in the boxes using the choices listed on the bottom of the page. Step four using flashcards. You can add future tense affixes onto the short Russian that the children have learned and have them translate the combinations as you see in the following video. They will bless you, will see, we will praise the Lord, shall remember, he wills, he will call, he will give, I will choose you, or they will love. Step 5. Additionally, you can make combinations of the future tense affixes with the object suffixes from the yellow.

Banner added to verbs that they have learned and then have them translate the resulting words. A video of this activity follows. [Music] You will give or make them, I will choose him.

We hope that you’ve enjoyed and gained from this presentation. If you have any questions, feel free to call, fax, or email us. Your comments are always appreciated.
